At the Altar of Clubbed Thumb
Clubbed Thumb’s Summerworks is always one of my favorite annual events and this year the lineup is so amazing I think they deserve an award for best season of new plays. In fact, I hereby give them the P73 Playwright Fellow Blog Award for Best Season of New Plays.
Here’s the deal: Kristin Newbom has been writing some of the best plays I’ve ever seen since she headed a theater company/collective called The Compound in Seattle in the 1990s. She is a playwright other playwrights worship and I have been waiting and praying for this play Telethon to come to NYC – and here it is directed by Ken Rus Schmoll! I have the same feelings about seeing Gregory Moss’s Punk Play which all kinds of people I respect have been raving about non-stop for the past year, and I’ve been begging Madeline George to read her plays for years because she’s so brilliant, so I can’t wait to see Precious Little.
Great directors, too: Ken, Hal Brooks, Davis McCallum. I can’t wait for summer!
Here’s the Web site. I feel like you should buy your tickets now.
